Session 1: The Evolving Landscape of Ovarian Cancer Treatment

Join us for a candid conversation with Dr. Gizelka David-West about how ovarian cancer treatment continues to evolve. Together, we will explore today’s treatment options, the role of biomarker testing and clinical trials, and what these advances may mean for your care. This empowering session will provide an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and help you feel more informed and confident as you navigate your journey.

Presented by: Gizelka Andreja David-West, MD

As a child, Dr. David-West immigrated with her family from Nigeria to New York City. She decided to become a doctor and discovered her passion for women’s health during medical school. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital and her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at NYU Medical Center. Through her work with cancer patients, she found a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment in providing compassionate care.

Dr. David-West joined Northwell Health in 2021, where she has helped expand access to gynecologic oncology care throughout Westchester and surrounding counties. Her patients value her thoughtful approach, surgical expertise, and ability to explain complex medical information in a clear and understandable way.

Her commitment to exceptional patient care and community health has earned recognition on prestigious physician lists, including Castle Connolly Top Doctors and New York Magazine Top Doctors. Outside of medicine, she is the lead singer of No Evidence of Disease (N.E.D.), a critically acclaimed rock band dedicated to raising awareness of gynecologic cancers through music and the arts.

Passionate about cancer prevention and education, Dr. David-West is committed to reaching underserved communities and ensuring women understand their risk factors, recognize symptoms, and have access to the resources they need for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Session 3: Finding Your Footing: Making Space for the Person You Are Today

A cancer diagnosis can change how you see yourself, your relationships, your priorities, and what comes next. You may feel hopeful and uncertain, strong and unsteady all at the same time. Rather than feeling pressure to return to who you were before cancer, this session invites you to make space for and care for the person you are today.

Together, we’ll explore the emotional impact of ovarian cancer and discover practical ways to feel more grounded, practice self-compassion, and build resilience no matter where you are in your journey.
