Making A Difference with My Miles!

I'm coming out of running retirement! This year, I registered for the Disney Princess Races because I want to raise awareness and funding for National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. 

One of my favorite nursing professors died due to ovarian cancer; she was first diagnosed when it was already stage 4, with metastasis, because she had no early symptoms. Another friend that I volunteer with underwent, and survived, treatment last year. She had been bleeding; doctors initially chalked it up to age and being post-menopausal. Turns out, it was cancer. We cannot let women's health be continue to be brushed to the side, an afterthought in medical care. Women deserve and need the research, treatment, and support, to defeat cancer and live our best lives!

Dollars raised for the NOCC support national programs and local market initiatives to heighten awareness of the subtle signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, assist newly-diagnosed patients throughout the country, provide ongoing support to caregivers, and advocate for the advancement of ovarian cancer research. We've all face challenges in our own lives. If not for the support of loved ones and community, I wouldn't be able to put myself forward today. I want to help those facing their own battles as well as support  caregivers and family members.
